American Express India has just sent out a notification to select existing cardholders about the upcoming spend-linked festive offer for Diwali 2025.
In the distant past, Amex festive offers were among the best, giving up to 10% return on spends. But over the years, the value has dropped and in recent times the return is around 4%.
I received a small Diwali offer for 2024 since my Amex spends had reduced. This year, looks like its a tired offer, something like below, which I got to know by calling support:
> 15L : 35K INR
10L to <15L : 30K INR
7L-10L: 20K INR
5L-7L: 15K INR
4L-5L: 12K INR
3L-4L: 10K INR
2L- 3L: 6K INR
>1L to 2L: 3K INR
50K to 1L: 1500 INR
While I’ve no idea which one I got targeted for as the executive didn’t have clarity, we’ll need to wait till 15th Sep to figure that out. And once again it’s sad to see that the return is as low as 3% on the spend.
That said, fortunately HSBC won the game last year with a lucrative offer. Let’s see if that happens again this year.
I’ve also noticed that very few people have received this offer so far. Maybe Amex is sending it out in batches, but I’m not sure. We’ll have to wait and see.
