Selling on Vinted is a great way to clear out your wardrobe and make some extra cash, but what do you do when items are not selling on Vinted? In this post I am going to share ideas to help you to refresh and renew your listings, come up with creative ways to sell or how to decide whether to just donate them.
Why are items not selling on Vinted?
If you’re wondering why no one is buying your Vinted items, it usually comes down to a few reasons – the photos aren’t great, the price is too high or people just aren’t finding your item. Don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to fix these issues and boost Vinted sales.
Update your photos
By using brighter lighting and a nice background you can really make your photographs stand out.
I’ve discovered that I sell more when my items are photographed against a wallpaper background than when photographed against a plain wall.
You don’t need to go out and buy a mannequin or redecorate a wall, but think about trying out different backgrounds to see what works for you. You can easily use a Command Hook to any wall or door to make a new photo area for your listings.
Refresh your listings to boost Vinted sales
You don’t have to take brand new photographs to refresh your Vinted listings (but you totally can!).
If you’re wondering how to refresh a Vinted listing there are so many things you can do.
Even small edits to the title or description can bump your item up in search results.
You could also add keywords or change the category – for example, is your short sleeved dress also a summer dress? If so, in warmer months, change the category.
Get measuring
Adding measurements to your Vinted listings can really help to get more sales on Vinted.
You can either do this straight from the beginning, or you can add them later if an item isn’t selling – that’s totally up to you.
I personally find that I get more sales when items include measurements, but I understand that getting measurements can be such a bore.
Pro tip: save a template to your phone or computer notes so that you aren’t always typing out ‘waist left to right measures…’ etc.
Send offers to people who have favourited your item
Vinted is a place where people love to get a bargain, so sending offers to people who have favourited your item or items can really boost your Vinted sales.
You can do this through the notifications on the app, or you can bulk send offers on Vinted easily.
Lower the price
As well as sending offers you might want to consider offering a small discount. Sometimes lowering your price by just 10 – 20% can lead to a sale.
Offer bundle discounts
Enable discounts for buyers purchasing multiple items to increase interest.
Don’t just have your bundle discounts turned on – shout it from the rooftops! Add it to your bio and your listings to entice buyers to buy more from you.
Re-list the item
If your item has been up for awhile then re-listing it can really help to make the sale on Vinted.
Don’t just screenshot your photos and upload them – the item won’t appear at the top of your wardrobe. You need to edit the photos slightly, with a crop, or rotation for example.
You can even do this automatically with SellerAider.
List regularly
Vinted loves the algorithm to be fed – so feed it!
If you are able to list regularly (ideally I’m talking 3 items per day at minimum) then Vinted will push your items out to more buyers and show your new listings higher in the feed.
Promote your listings outside of Vinted
Post your Vinted wardrobe link or links to individual items outside of Vinted – for example in Facebook groups, Instagram stories, etc.
There are even dedicated Facebook groups for promoting your Vinted listings.
Make Your Own Bundles
You might have bundle offers on, but you might want to consider making your own bundle of products in one listing. You could take similar items, or items in the same size, and bundle them together for one price. For example, 3 pairs of size 14 jeggings.
Crosslist to eBay & Facebook Marketplace
If something isn’t shifting on Vinted, try listing it elsewhere too. eBay and Facebook Marketplace are great places to find a different audience. Some buyers just prefer one platform over another, so crosslisting can increase your chances of a sale. Just remember to remove the item from Vinted if it sells somewhere else!
Take to Cash 4 Clothes
If your items aren’t worth much individually or just aren’t selling, you could take them to a local Cash 4 Clothes service. They usually pay by the kilo, and while the payout isn’t huge, it’s a quick way to clear space and still make a little something.
Donate
Sometimes it’s just best to let it go. If your item hasn’t sold after several attempts, consider donating it to a charity shop. You’ll be freeing up space and helping a good cause at the same time. And who knows — your donation might just become someone else’s bargain find!
Frequently Asked Questions about Selling on Vinted
Why aren’t my Vinted items selling?
There are a few common reasons why your items might not be selling on Vinted: low-quality photos, high prices, missing keywords, or lack of visibility. The good news is that all of these can be fixed with a few simple tweaks to your listings.
How can I increase views on my Vinted listings?
To get more eyes on your listings, try updating the title and description, changing the category, refreshing your photos, and listing new items regularly. You can also share your listings outside of Vinted, like in Facebook groups or on Instagram.
How do I refresh a Vinted listing?
You can refresh a listing by editing the title, description, or category—even just a small change can push it higher in search results. Alternatively, you can fully re-list it with updated images or a slightly adjusted layout. Just be sure not to screenshot and reupload, as this won’t move the item up in your shop.
What’s the best way to photograph items for Vinted?
Bright, clear photos with a tidy background work best. You don’t need a fancy setup—just try using a well-lit spot and a wallpapered area or clean door with a Command Hook to hang clothes. Aim for consistent and eye-catching images.
Should I add measurements to my Vinted listings?
Yes! Including waist, length, bust, or other relevant measurements makes it easier for buyers to feel confident and can really help your listings sell faster. Keep a saved template in your phone notes to make adding measurements quicker.
How do I get more sales on Vinted?
Lowering your prices, offering bundle discounts, sending offers to people who have favourited your items, and listing frequently all help. It’s also a good idea to crosslist on platforms like eBay or Facebook Marketplace.
What should I do with Vinted items that still won’t sell?
You have a few options:
Make your own bundle listing (e.g. 3 items in the same size)
Crosslist to other platforms like eBay or Facebook Marketplace
Take to Cash 4 Clothes if they’re low-value items
Donate to a charity shop to help others and free up space
Is there a way to promote my Vinted listings outside of the app?
Yes! You can post your Vinted wardrobe or individual listings in Facebook selling groups, your Instagram stories, TikTok, or even your blog. Every bit of extra exposure helps.
Does Vinted favour accounts that list regularly?
Yes – the algorithm tends to boost accounts that list often. Aim for at least 3 items per day if you can. Even if it’s just relisting old stock, consistent activity can increase your visibility.
When is the best time to sell clothes on Vinted?
Seasonal timing matters. Summer dresses will sell better in spring and summer, while coats and jumpers shift more easily in autumn and winter. If something isn’t seasonally appropriate right now, consider holding it back to re-list later.
